Roughly Half of the zombies you will encounter will be swarm zombies. While they have no special abilities, they are still very formidable threats.

Gamingbarn's Zombies is a datapack that completely changes the way you play Minecraft. Most default monsters are replaced with immensely powerful zombies. These new, powerful zombies are much faster, stronger, and expandable than their vanilla Minecraft counterparts. If one wants to survive, they will need to employ new methods and strategies in order to overcome this new threat.
I recommend playing this datapack alongside Tissue's Zombie Pack and Fresh Animations!
As the name of the datapack would lead one to suspect, Gamingbarn's Zombies adds many different special types of zombies. Each zombie type fills a different role in the swarm. If one wishes to survive for very long at all in this hostile environment, they must learn the strengths and weaknesses of the horde they face.
Roughly Half of the zombies you will encounter will be swarm zombies. While they have no special abilities, they are still very formidable threats.
The Scorched Zombie is very similar to the Swarm Zombie except for one key difference: the Scorched Zombie is completely immune to fire. When fighting with fire, make sure to account for these monsters
The Miner Zombie is perhaps the most dangerous enemy currently present in Gamingbarn's Zombies. As the name would imply, the Miner Zombie has the ability to break certain blocks. This special ability enables the horde to tunnel through walls and through the earth to reach you. If you wish to survive successfully, you will need to build a base out of blocks the miner is unable to mine. The Miner is able to destroy the following: All Overworld Wood, All Glass Except Tinted, All Dirt, Snow, Regular Ice, Sand, Clay, Terracotta, All Unpolished Stones, Wool, and All Cracked Bricks. The Miner Zombie also has increased attack damage due to the pickaxe it carries.
While seemingly harmless on the surface, the Builder Zombie can be almost as dangerous as the Miner Zombie. Capable of building bridges and staircases, the Builder Zombie is able to allow the swarm to cross large gaps and climb over walls.
The Nurse Zombie has the unique ability to restore the HP of two nearby zombies. This can make fighting large groups of zombies tricky, especially to those with weak weapons. Don't fret, as the Nurse Zombie has one clear weakness: Nurses Zombies are unable to heal other Nurse Zombies.
The Psychopath Zombie doesn't have any special abilities, but it is still dangerous nonetheless. This zombie wields an iron sword, greatly increasing its attack damage. If it happens to drop the sword upon death, make sure to grab it. The "Zombie Cutter" is enchanted with smite 2, allowing you to shred through zombies, especially in the early game.
The Acid Spitter is a special zombie with the ability to shoot acidic projectiles at nearby players. Much like when hit normally, these projectiles have a chance to inflict Minor Infection. The range of the acid spitter is roughly seven blocks. These projectiles do not deal knockback.
The Acid Spewer is very similar to the Acid Spitter. The Spewer deals less ranged damage and has a shorter range than the Spitter, but fires much quicker. The range of the Acid Spewer is roughly four/five blocks. The projectiles do not deal knockback.
This rare zombie type has no special abilities. It is functionally identical to the Swarm Zombie. The DJ Zombie will always drop one random music disc upon death. The music disc it can drop is limited to the disks dropped when a creeper is killed by a skeleton in vanilla Minecraft.
While they may look at act like regular animals at first, do not be fooled. Once players or other targets get close, the Zombie Animal will begin to attack. Zombie Animals can only spawn in the wild. If an animal is bred, it will never be a zombie animal. All zombie animals inflict the hunger status effect to their target.
The Water Zombie is a special sub-species of zombie that is very well equipped for water combat. The Water Zombie is very fast when in water, only being slightly slower than you are. Unlike normal zombies, the Water Zombie can spawn during the day in lakes and oceans. Any regular zombies that find themselves trapped underwater will become Water Zombies
Virtually the same as the Water Zombie except for one key difference: The Water Spitter can shoot projectiles. These projectiles don't shoot as far as the Acid Spitter's and do less damage. The projectile will inflict the mining fatigue status effect to its targets.
Within Gamingbarn's Zombies there are many different mechanics and miscellaneous features to make the game more difficult, and in rare cases, less difficult.
One of the most prevalent features added is the Minor Infection system. Minor Infection is the name for a series of status effects that you have a chance of receiving when attacked by a zombie. Upon being hit, you have a chance to receive Weakness, Mining Fatigue, Hunger, Slowness. The durations of the different effects go from shortest to longest in the order listed above The chance of receiving Minor Infection depends on the selected difficulty of the pack. Water Zombies, Water Spitters, and Zombie Animals will not inflict Minor Infection.
A relatively small change brought by Gamingbarn's Zombies is that eating raw meat will inflict hunger. There is a 100% chance of receiving hunger from any raw food upon consumption, including chicken. Some foods are worse to eat raw than others. The following items are listed from worst to best in terms of the effects they apply: Rotten Flesh, Pork, Chicken, Mutton, Beef, Cod & Salmon.
Most zombies within this datapack are VERY weak to fire. All zombies will take 6 damage per second they are on fire (except for the scorched, water, and animal zombies). This weakness can be exploited to easily eradicate vast amounts of zombies at once. However, zombies will also leave trails of fire whenever they are caught on fire. This fact is important to keep in mind when fighting zombies with flames.
When this datapack is played alongside my other datapack, Gamingbarn's Guns, there will be several noticeable changes to both datapacks. The recipe book will now include a recipe for the Minor Infection Cure. The Minor Infection Cure upon usage will clear the effects inflicted by Minor Infection. More importantly, it can also be used to instantly cure one nearby zombie animal or zombie villager. Zombie villagers cured via Minor Infection Cures will not award trade reductions.
In this world of peril, there is one helpful feature. All villagers will regenerate HP over time. This is especially useful for keeping villagers alive, as their HP can no longer be slowly chipped away over multiple encounters.
Every single zombie is capable of picking up items and equipping armor off of the ground. Zombies that have picked up an item will not despawn and will drop the item upon death. Keep this in mind; if you die to a group of zombies they won't go anywhere if they've picked up your stuff.
Similar to the Pillager Patrols that can occasionally spawn, there are now Illager Skirmishes you need to deal with. They are medium-sized groups of illagers that will patrol around until they inevitably run into you. These groups can contain Pillagers, Vindicators, Evokers, Witches, or Ravagers. They will only ever spawn during the day, and will spawn roughly 60-70 blocks away from you and will slowly patrol to your position at the time of them spawning.
The following mechanics aren't added by Gamingbarn's Zombies, but are very important and should be kept in mind.
When you get near a regular zombie, it will target you and try to kill you. You can easily run away and the zombie will most likely forget you. However, if you attack the zombie it will not forget you so easily. In fact, the zombie will also alert all nearby zombies of your presence. This is especially bad if you are trying to hide in a structure that isn't zombie resistant.
Another important thing to keep in mind is how the Water Zombie will attack. During the day, Water Zombies will ignore you unless you get in the water. If you get in the water, all nearby water zombies will quickly rush to your position. During the night, however, all nearby water zombies will rush out of the water to attack you. This fact makes settling near rivers or oceans quite dangerous. Keep in mind, though, that all Water Zombies will head back to the water once the sun rises again.
There are 4 difficulties currently implemented in the datapack. While each difficulty will lead to a similar overall experience, it is recommended that players chose the difficulty that they believe best aligns with their skill levels in order to have the most possible fun. Zombie AI is unchanged depending on the difficulty chosen.
Minor Infection is present on Easy difficulty, but only has a 10% chance of being inflicted.
On Easy difficulty, zombies will be slightly faster than their vanilla counterparts, but zombies overall will have lower stats.
Zombie Stats
Health - 15
Armor - 0
Damage - 3
Movement Speed - 0.25
This is the standard Gamingbarn's Zombies experience. It it the closest to what you would have played with before the difficulty system was added. The chance of being inflicted with Minor Infection is 20%.
On Normal difficulty, zombies are noticeably faster and deal more damage than their vanilla counterparts.
Zombie Stats
Health - 20
Armor - 0
Damage - 4
Movement Speed - 0.3
In addition to stronger zombies, zombies will now always spawn in pairs of two. This results in more zombies overall, and situations more quickly getting out of hand. Minor Infection has a 30% chance of being inflicted.
On Hard difficulty, zombies are not any faster than the zombies from previous difficulties. However, they have higher damage and hp. These zombies also now have a small amount of armor. This armor doesn't make a huge difference to most players, but anyone with guns will notice the change.
Zombie Stats
Health - 25
Armor - 2
Damage - 5
Movement Speed - 3
Of the four currently implemented difficulties, Nightmare difficulty has the most changes, and is subsequently the most difficult. Nightmare difficulty zombies spawn in groups of three. Minor Infection, same as in Hard, has a 30% chance of being inflicted.
You'll notice that the hp, armor, and movement speed stats have stayed the same, but the damage as increased more than it was previously.
Zombie Stats
Health - 25
Armor - 2
Damage - 6
Movement Speed - 0.3
Modifiers
Enraged : +3 Armor, +3 Attack Damage
Energized : +0.06 Movement Speed, +1 Attack Damage
Armored : +2 Base Armor, +Combination of Chainmail or Iron Armor
Weaponed : +Stone or Iron Tool
All zombies also have the chance to spawn with one of several modifiers. These modifiers make the horde more dangerous as a whole. The modifier also changes the name and name color of the zombie with the modifier.
Another change brought on by Nightmare difficulty is block deterioration. Whenever an Acid Spitter or Acid Spewer shoot at a zombie-resistant block, there is a chance that the block is converted into a zombie-breakable variant.
Deteriorable Blocks
All Bricks, All Polished Stones, Bone Blocks, All Smooth and Cut Sandstone (All slabs, stairs, and walls of deteriorable blocks can also be deteriorated)
The Mutation difficulty is not yet fully added to Gamingbarn's Zombies. The only indicator of its existence is the grayed-out option in the difficulty select menu.
Gamingbarn's Zombies is highly configurable, with operators being able to turn on/off zombie types and certain gameplay features.
The GBZ configuration menu can be accessed by running the following command:
/function config:gbz
This menu can also be used to change the difficulty of the pack after it has been initially set.
